My painful foot massage..

Last Thursday, K and I went for a foot massage at Shaw Tower.. It was a painful experience!

Apparently, my "system" is totally screwed up inside my body.. Everytime my masseur pressed a certain point on my feet and it hurt, i will ask him which organ that was. So he was basically explaining to me the whole 40 minutes. I think i pissed the hell out of the other customers who were trying to close their eyes and rest! = P

Anyway, through all the pain, i was informed that i had a bad diet, not enough rest, bad spine, extremely tired neck and shoulders yada yada.. only my brain was in good condition. I joked with my masseur that it's probably because i don't use my brain much! = P

There was once when he pressed an extremely painful spot, and i asked him what organ that was.. Instead of answering me like he did before, he just mumbled that it would be difficult to explain, then tossed me a diagram chart so i can see for myself.. At second glance, i realized that the painful spot on my feet was linked to my genitals.. Haha.. I thought my masseur was so cute then.. no wonder he suddenly didn't want to explain cause he was embarrassed! Almost immediately, my sense of humour coverted to worry and concern, so i asked my masseur if that was normal. I mean if it's so painful when he pressed that spot on my feet, what the hell did that mean?! But he said it was normal, and that i should try and press that spot frequently if i wanted a child.. hmmm.. I guess no harm giving it a try huh?

Mee sua soup, Badminton and Mahjong

This was the lunch i cooked for K and I this afternoon: Mee sua soup with minced chicken, prawns, fishball and crab meat. I followed my mom's recipe to the T, but somehow, mine still taste different.. According to K, it was delicious = ), but I still preferred my mom's mee sua soup!

After breakfast this morning, K and I drove over to this newly opened auto car mart store in Ubi. We shopped for a while, and ended up buying a new ionizer, tyre pressure gauge and customized mats for our car. The employees there don't really seem to know their stuff very well.. We spoke to 2 different people about getting customized mats for our MX5, and both asked us the same question: "Mats for the front only, or front and back of car?" K and I just looked at each other and exchanged puzzled looks.. = )

After lunch, i continued with my Sex & The City Season 4.. my mom in law arrived at my place around 4pm with 2 more boxes of mooncakes and to pick K and I up for badminton at the airport.. K's uncle, auntie, cousin and grandma were all going to be there as well.

At the airport recreation center, K and I played 30 mins of basketball before badminton. K's cousin, auntie and uncle joined us as well, and it was good fun.. I still can't really get the hang of basketball, despite playing the sport every week! Sickening.. =(

The badminton session was much better for me.. We played 3 games before heading to Old Airport Road hawker center for some serious hawker food. We had satay, my fave Whitley Road prawn noddle soup, fried hokkien mee, fried kuay teow and oyster omelette.. YUMMY! After smelling the super fragrant aroma of the claypot rice at the table behind me, i now have a strong craving for claypot rice.. I shall try and psycho my colleagues tomorrow to have claypot rice for lunch!

After dinner, my in laws came over to our place for a few rounds of mahjong. My mom in law wanted to hone her mahjong skills before she plays with her friends during her vacation next weekend. I ended up being the sole winner with total winnings of$48! haha! Not bad huh? Looks like i am quite lucky, maybe i should buy toto tomorrow..

An embarrassing moment..

Here i am, sitting alone in my living room and blogging..

I had gone home by myself from my Grandma's just now.. On the way to the bus stop, i was walking behind these 2 women, who were totally oblivious that i was behind them as they chatted and strolled like there was no tomorrow.. One of them had saw me behind because i was walking super close, but she didn't even bother to give way. When I saw my bus approaching, I cut in front of them, walked onto the grass beside the pavement and started running towards the bus. Halfway through, one of my stupid Crocs shoes fell off and i had to run back to retrieve it. It was super embarrassing. Consequently, I missed the bus so had to take the next one instead. I blame the two road hogs!

And you know what's the worst part? The 2 road hogs had to take the same bus as me, then board the same train as me somemore.. It was as if someone up there arranged it so these two women can secretly mock at me all the way to my train stop! = (

Then, as if it was not bad enough, it started to rain when i alighted at my train station. I was without shelter.. So i bought my favourite honey lemon green tea (with pearls) from Sweet Talk at the train station as my comfort food, braced myself, and run all the way from the train station to my block.. Pathetic as it may sound, I actually had fun running in the rain.. haha..

K is still not home from his dinner gathering with his friends.. He called me just now and apparently, he was with just one gal friend, not a group.. Didn't really like the idea of that, cause i don't really like this gal friend of his in the first place, but i guess we all need our personal space..

Nice quiet Saturday..

K and F went jogging this morning at Pasir Ris park.. i knew K wanted me to go too. Unfortunately, the mind is strong, but the body is weak.. = ) I was tired from the late night work yesterday, and wasn't really in the mood to go jogging at 9am in the morning. SOOO.. i lazed in bed until 1pm today..= P

When i woke up, K was not home yet. So I washed up and watched Sex and the City while munching on my breakfast: Salmon Mayo sandwich, apples and Ruffles potato chips!

In SATC, Carrie had gotten engaged and living together with Aiden, Charlotte had gotten a separation with Trey because Trey didn't want a baby, Miranda had decided to keep the baby she had with Steve's single testicle, and Samantha had fallen in love with her boss (with the perfect pink dick), much to her horror.

Halfway through my show, K came back.. He had bought Goreng Pisang for me, which i consumed within seconds. I continued with my SATC while K worked on his laptop.. After my breakfast, i did some housework: laundry, ironing, vaccuming and tidied some of the shelves. In the evening, K went to meet up with his gal friends, while i went over to my Grandma's.

My parents and sister were there as well. Sis had cooked dinner: "Chai Tao" (long bean) rice.. I had been craving for it since a fortnight ago. Had told my mom about it, but unfortunately, her maid had not mastered this dish yet. So you can imagine what a satisfied woman i was after my dinner... = ) The rice had long beans, mushroom, fishcake and shrimps in it.. side dishes were equally delicious: Radish soup, pan fried luncheon meat, onion omelette and pan fried fish. YUMMY!Mom was there too when i arrived, but she left soon after for her mid-autumn festival party at a community center nearby.

My two baby nieces were there too.. it had been months since i last saw the two of them. The young one has learnt to walk now, and even knew how to do the high-five! She was absoultely adorable, the way she walks clumsily and falls, her 5-toothed smile and the usual baby demeanor.. = )

My grandma looks better today, although still a bit weak.. When she saw how tickled i was by my baby niece, she gave me the "look", smiled and said: "Very adorable and fun hoh?" A subtle and indirect way of asking when i was having one myself..
SIGH..

Sports Day: New Khakis & Crazy Indian Man

10:28 PM by Adeline Woo 0 comments
Yesterday was the weekly basketball cum badminton session with my colleagues. We had new khakis on the basketball court. 3 Filipino guys with super human stamina and excellent basketball skills.. The Filipinos have been known to be really good at playing basketball, so i wasn't surprised..

Me and XL sat and watched while the guys played. Obviously, we couldn't play cause we would be spoiling the game for them, so we spectate. The boys played 5-6 rounds of 10 hoops each, and while my male colleagues took turns to play, the 3 Filipinos played all 6 games without stopping. I was amazed at their stamina.. After the 3 guys left, me and XL finally had a chance to play ball.. we played for 2-3 rounds before it got late and we left.. It was Business Support versus LPG Sales. There were plenty of screaming and laughing, and i still get tickled everytime i think back at how the action stops when the ball lands in female hands.. The guys just leaves us alone everytime we get hold of the ball.. Minimal hussling and absolutely no body contact.. LOL!

Unlike the past few weeks, i suddenly had a lot of work on my plate yesterday. Mainly because i had a conference call with my boss in the morning.. Calls with boss = Work!

So.. i spent the whole day doing up this stupid presentation on workforce planning for our VP to present to our P next week. Everyone has been scrambling for this stupid presentation but my turn came only yesterday. Nonetheless, i still went for my sports session at 6pm, even though i had not really finished what i was supposed to do.. I figured i would do it at night when i went home, which i did until 1am! My boss asked me to call him at 1230am can you believe it?! But he was nice, he told me what he needed, but then asked me to go and sleep and do on Monday.. haha..

Yesterday's badminton was not bad, we were late by 30 minutes because of a super bad traffic jam, but still managed to play for an hour because the next group of people who booked our court were late too.. Adi and I partnered for a game of doubles.. we were the undefeated champions for 4 games until we got exhausted and were finally defeated by Kel and XL.. = )

Halfway thru our games, this Indian man walked in, yelling at everyone in the hall to stop playing.. he was a cleaner working at the community center, and he was talking loudly and asking us to clear all the litter in the hall before we left.. i think he was drunk or something cause he kept rattling on and on.. one of the guys in the court next to us got pissed and shouted at him to get out.. but he remained in the hall and walked around mumbling to himself. We ignored him, until he walked over to our court, and started to talk to us in a very rude tone about the rubbish clearing and all.. I was pissed and wanted to yell at him too, but my colleagues kept asking me to ignore him.. i could sense K was pissed too from the way he looked at the man, but he also didn't do anything.. During the ride home, K actually told me he was on the verge of picking a fight with the man, but knew i would be upset if he did it in front of my colleagues so he didn't. I told him i will probably join him if not for my colleagues' presence!

After basketball, we went for some Zhi Char for dinner. The food was cheap but not that fantastic. I still can't believe how the chef can screw up my "Fu Yong" omelette so badly! Ridiculous..

OMG, I have WRINKLES!!

Last week during my Penang Hawker fare dinner, my sister-in-law said the meanest thing to me: She told me i had Wrinkles!!

K and I were walking to the hotel from the carpark and laughing over something we were chatting about, when my sister-in-law suddenly tapped me on the shoulder and asked me to smile at her; which i did and thereafter asked her what it was about.. that was when she dropped the bomb on me.

Upon reaching the hotel, we immediately rushed to the washroom where i spent the most painful minute of my life looking at the wrinkles at the sides of my two big round eyes.. they were hideous! At that point, i vowed to myself never to smile again until the wrinkles are erased.. = )

My god, i AM getting old... boo hoo.. time to upgrade from just sunblock and face moisturizer to sunblock, moisturizer AND wrinkle cream!! = (

Penang Hawker's Fare @ York Hotel

5:35 PM by Adeline Woo 0 comments
Last Thursday, K and I met up with my in-laws for dinner at York Hotel.. My mom-in-law had complained to her contact in the hotel about the front desk girl, and her contact (the sales manager) had offered the family a free meal at their famous Penang Hawker's Fare buffet..

Before we met the sales manager Jade, my mom told me that Jade had forwarded my complaint letter to her.. She then asked me to casually passed a comment to Jade when i see her, something like: " I hope my letter didn't put you in a difficult spot..." I was quite reluctant to do so, because i had been quite admanant in my letter, and i didn't want to suddenly become so nicey nice to Jade when i see her.. To me, this was an apology dinner, and if i passed the comment that my mom-in-law wanted me to, it would seem like i am apologizing..

Anyway, I told K about it when i had the chance to.. but he was equally helpless.. So we continued with our gastronomic tour at the buffet tables, savouring the Penang laksa, prawn noodles, Loh Bak, pancakes, fried kuay teow, oyster omelete etc.. Jade did not join us for dinner, she just chatted a bit with us before we started our dinner, and after before we left..

The second time Jade dropped by.. we chatted. The conversation somehow turned to complimentary carpark coupons, and Jade then apologized to me for the expired coupon issue that i mentioned in my complaint letter. It was then that my mom-in-law, who was sitting opposite me, started to kick me from below the table - a signal for me to make my comment.. i was totally irritated by that gesture, and at that time, wished i could just disappear under my chair..

Unfortunately, i was no Copperfield, so i had to make the stupid comment to stop all the footsie going on between my mom-in-law and me.. I gave it my best shot, but i still felt very fake..

Sigh.. the things we do for our in-laws...
