K and I went for Bria's check up in the morning today cause Dr. Lim came in early.. We still had to wait but at least the queue was not that bad..
Doc prescribed some medication for my flu, which had developed into a cough and sore throat over the last few days.. i even had a slight fever yesterday.. PLUS super itchy rashes on my feet.. It was horrible.. And as if things weren't bad enough, a huge zit appeared on my right cheek..
Doc did the usual scan, and told me that Bria wouldn't be due so soon, not at least within the next 7 days. He also mentioned to me that he would be going on leave the next day and back on Monday.. According to the ultrasound, Bria weighed about 3.3kg . That's 0.5kg heavier than her last check up 10 days ago.. Which made me a bit worried cause that's quite big, and she still has another 7 days to grow, which means she will be huge when she comes out! Huge = more painful labor.. While Bria gains weight, poor mummy lost 0.6kg due to my stupid flu = )
For the past few days, my wonderful helper (let's call her C) played a huge part in making sure i got well quickly. She made ginger tea for my flu, honey lime for my throat, and even offered to massage me every night before bedtime. If there is an award / contest for "Most Outstanding Helper", i will definitely nominate her! = )
After realizing that Bria now weighs 3.3kg, i started to worry about how difficult it would be to give birth to a huge baby.. While chatting online with G today, she mentioned something about her second baby weighing 3.2 kg also at 38 weeks, and how her midwife said she might have to go for c-section if the baby grows too big.. That kinda added on to what i was afraid of and made it worse.. = (
To ease my tension, G suggested 2 ways of bringing on early labor. I found a third method online.
1. Have sex
2. Stimulate my nipples
3. Do more walking
Let's just say only 1 appealed to me = )

Pregnancy
I had my first "merlion" last Friday since i got pregnant.. It's amazing how i have yet to experience any morning sickness or vomiting even though i am already 26 weeks now..
But last Friday, i came down with food poisoning.. Or at least that was what i thought i was suffering from. I started my 12-hour cycle of vomiting and diarrhea from 3am on Friday.. At first i thought it was due to my over-eating at the Penang food buffet the night before, but it got worse after that, and i didn't get to sleep the entire night. Basically, it was like lao sai, then followed by merlion, for god knows how many times.. The next morning, K took me to the clinic below our house. The doctor didn't help much, except ask me to drink 100 plus and just let everything purge out and recover naturally. She did prescribed some medication (pregnancy-safe) for me, but asked me not to take them if possible. Apparently, there has been a stomach flu / diarrhea virus going around, so maybe K spread his virus to me.. So eventually, i went home, drank 1.5 litres of 100 plus, ate porridge and slept the whole day. K and I also had to cancel our weekend Batam trip, which totally spoilt my mood.. = (
I kinda got better towards the night, with my last merlion at around 4pm. And that was caused by me eating too much porridge at one go because i was so damn hungry! Haha..

Yesterday night, K and I were at Ang Mo Kio to meet up with K's aunt for dinner.. It was supposed to be a farewell dinner before K's aunt flies back to London.. Dinner was at "Dian Xiao Er", a fairly popular chinese restaurant that is constantly being compared to it's better known counterpart "Soup Restaurant". My in-laws were there as well.
K and I reached early to shop for sunglasses. He bought me pan-fried tapioca cakes and my fave Sweet Talk honey lemon green tea along the way.. = ) Prior to meeting K's aunt, my in-laws met us in the carpark and passed us another 5 boxes of mooncakes.. now i have like 10 boxes of mooncakes sitting in my house!
Dinner was horrible. Not because the food was bad, but because my immune system decided to give in halfway through my dinner. My nose started to run, and i was sneezing non-stop throughout dinner. I ended up eating only the veggies, rice and drinking plenty of hot chinese tea, because i knew i was gonna fall sick. By the end of our dinner, there was a huge pile of tissue balls at the corner of my table.. = (
Before we left for home, i was asked the inevitable question by his aunt: When will i become a mummy.. SIGH.. i don't know how much more of this i can take..
Upon reaching home, i popped a few pills for my flu and drank some mixture for my throat. Within 30 minutes, i was totally knocked out..
Today, i visited the doctor again, and this time, i was given medication for a full blown flu, sore throat plus 2 days MC! = (

I woke up at 530am today with my left nostril blocked, my right nostril running, and sneezing like crazy..
Half an hour later... i felt totally irritated and sick, so i decided to text my dept secretary and admin supervisor to call in sick.
I slept in until 1030am, before waking up for breakfast: Banana Nut Crunch with green tea soya bean milk.. K has this weird thing about mixing his cereals with soya bean milk.. and he experiments with the funkiest flavours.. i'm kinda getting used to it already.. = )
After breakfast, i went down to the clinic to see the doctor.. The doctor was quite a character.. after diagnosing me, she sat down and started chatting with me about the pros and cons of the baby incentives that the government was giving. Seems like there is absoulutely NO WAY i can escape from this topic, not even when i am sick and at the doctor's!
Apparently, my doctor told me that i have visited her previously with the same symptoms.. it wasn't the flu bug, but rather a allergic nose that had cause my nasal to be congested, hence restricting my oxygen flow and causing me to always feel lethargic and drowsy. When i left the office, there was a long line of people waiting outside and nearly every pair of eyes were staring at me as if to say to me: "Why the hell did you take so long?!"
I left the clinic with one day MC and medicine for blocked nose, runny nose and nasal congestion. I always thought the first and last were the same thing.. well, apparently not! So weird..
Back home, i cooked lunch for K and myself.. Mee Pok dry with fish ball and crab meat.. K was working from home for the 1st half of the day, so his sick but ever loving wife made both breakfast and lunch for him.. = P
I had wanted to take a nap but decided to clear some work instead. K called at around 4pm asking if i wanted to go deliver the mooncakes to my ex-colleagues at the airport. There were also our customers, cause we had a lot of businesses for signages from them. So half an hour later, K picked me up and we headed to the airport for an hour of mooncakes delivery and chit-chatting.. MAN, I never knew delivering mooncakes can be so tiring!!
By then, i was feeling normal.. so K and I decided to go for a jog at East Coast park before dinner.. we jogged for 20 minutes all the way to Fort road, then strolled back.. I really loved jogging along the sea, with the breeze and the sound of the waves crashing, kinda feels like i am not in Singapore..
After the jog, we packed dinner home and ate while watching Season 4 of "24", which K finally finished downloading! We also managed to confirmed our flight to Perth on the 24th Oct.. YAHOO!! I called SIA and they told me my original waitlisted flight
was almost impossible to get, so i decided to change my flight instead.. can't wait to go Down Under!!

The stupid flu bug caught me today..This morning, K dropped me off at Breadtalk opposite my office to buy some bread for my breakfast.. i did not really have dinner the night before (just an apple and gazillion litres of water!), so i was literally starving..
When i reached the office, i started to gobble down my hot dog bun and a cuppa hot milo while clearing what little emails i had.. i was looking forward to the dinner and night of partying at Zouk with my colleagues tonight.. about an hour later, i started to sneeze couple of time.. at first i thought it was just the normal sneeze. However, when i started to sneeze continuously and had to go to the toilet to clear my running nose, i knew this was not gonna be good.. that was about 15 minutes to noon: lunchtime.
As there weren't any people to lunch with (either because they are going to places where i am not keen, or they were eating with their bosses), i decided to call K to see if he wanted to meet me for lunch.. Coincidentally, he was meeting F for lunch at Suntec city, so i decided to join them. At that time, i needed desperately to get out of the air conditioning that was giving my nose hell.
I took a 30 minute bus ride to Suntec and met up with K and F at Subway.. i didn't felt like eating Subway so K and I sat there and chatted with F instead while she ate.. we discussed about our Perth trip in October and the places of interest we would be going. At about 1pm, F had to go back to the office, so K and I went to search for a place for lunch.. I was starting to feel a little drowsy by then, and the nose was still running because i was in an air conditioned mall..
Eventually, K brought me to this porridge buffet place for lunch.. just what i needed: something hot and liquid for a sick girl! = ) The food was not very yummy but it was relatively cheap.. i kinda felt better after the porridge buffet, but still didn't feel like i was fit to go back to the office to work. So i decided to go home and get some rest.. That meant i had to tell my colleagues that i couldn't join them for dinner and partying.. I was really reluctant to do that, mainly because i had been the one to organize the gathering tonight. But also because i had wanted to go! But i knew i couldn't survive if i went in my sickly condition. K sent me home after lunch, he had packed his stuff so he could work from home.. when i reached home, i took some flu medication and went to sleep for the next 4 hours!
Woke up feeling slightly better but still weak, i got an sms from one of my colleagues informing that the dinner and partying had been postponed to next week.. i really hope my colleagues don't think i am taking revenge by pretending to be sick at the last minute! = (
K had a dinner appointment with his friends tonight, so i packed dinner home: my favourite fried noodles and honey lemon pearl bubble green tea! Watched the final disc of "24".. fantastic ending.. the stupid US President finally got brought to justice!
Tomorrow morning, K and I will be checking into York hotel.. my mother in law has arranged one night free accomodation for us; and in the evening, i will be having dinner with my college classmates and teacher to celebrate Teacher's Day.. it's been along time since we met, wonder how they all are now.. looks like it will be a relaxing but interesting weekend!

Love
I had dinner at my parents' place after work yesterday.. my mom had not given the maid any instructions on what to cook (she usually does) cause she was busy during the day so.. here's what we had for dinner:- Old cucumber soup (lao wang gua) with chicken
- Chicken in black soya sauce
- Deep fried chicken roll with seaweed
- Stir fried bitter gourd with prawns
I felt like it was a chicken buffet! Naturally, the maid was informed by both me AND my mom to cook a more "well-balanced" meal in future.. After dinner, we watched the Olympics Closing ceremony (replay) in Beijing.. again, another spectacular performance.. there was one segment where the ladies (think over 500 of them) performing wore costumes that were 95% made of tinkling silver bells, so whenever they moved or shook their hands, the whole stadium resounded with the tinkle of the bells.. then there was this part where the bell ladies formed human "lanes" and about 60 men came into the stadium cycling on a single big luminous wheel.. the bird's eye view of that segment was magnificent.. so pretty!
My dad seemed much better when i met him yesterday, haven't seen him for nearly 2 weeks already.. his left arm is still immobile, but he can walk around the house slowly on his own already.. and he didn't lose his temper yesterday..I called my granny yesterday afternoon to check on her.. she sounded weak still.. but she said she felt better after eating the TCM dispensed by the sensei she visited on Monday.. i suspect this has something to do with the 7th Month.. typically, the old (and superstitious) people (like me!) believe that people are more prone to sickness during the 7th month of the Chinese lunar calender because of the wandering spirits surrounding us, so the "QI" or the aura of the humans will clash with the spirits, thereby causing us to feel unwell.. Sigh.. hopefully, once this month is over, my granny will get well !
