My first Cosmopolitan..

I had my very first Cosmopolitan yesterday!! It's Carrie Bradshaw's favourite drink in Sex & The City. Frankly, i 've never thought of trying it until i saw it on the drink list yesterday at "Bar Cocoon @ The Forbidden City" - Indochine Clarke Quay (below).

According to Wikipedia:
"A cosmopolitan is a
cocktail made with vodka, Cointreau or Triple Sec, cranberry juice, and fresh-squeezed lime juice or sweetened lime juice. Informally, it is referred to as a Cosmo."

Mine looked something like this:

Paula (one of my colleagues from Fairfax) was in town, so i met up with her for dinner yesterday.. She took me out while i was in Fairfax, so i thought it was only nice (and right) of me to do the same since she's here..

I met Paula at the City Hall MRT control station, which was a totally bad idea, cause yesterday was the National Day Parade preview, and the usually very crowded city hall station was two times worse yesterday. And instead of waiting for me at the control station, Paula was waiting at the ticketing counter, which made it more difficult for me to find her amidst all the people.. PLUS, i was late for 30 minutes because of my waxing therapist (was at my usual session before i met Paula), who was pestering me non-stop to sign up for this $600 package which i am still considering... = ) Eventually, Paula and I found each other, and we headed to Clarke Quay for dinner.

We had Mexican at Cafe Iguana (one of my favorite restaurants). I ordered my usual Prawn skewer with scalloped patotoes, the "Iguana Breeze" margarita, and the "must have" nachos for starters. We were also lucky enough to catch the fighter jets doing their performance for the parade, and also a slight glimpse of the fireworks later in the night.. We were quite lucky to get a table with a good viewing spot! There was a lot of chit chatting; talked about work, boys, Sex & The City, colleagues, travel stories etc etc. I was quite tempted a few times to ask Paula about my boss, whom she used to date for 10 years.. Until now, i still wondered why they broke up. I mean, what's wrong with my boss?? = )

We left Iguana at around 830pm, and headed to the row of watering holes opposite the restaurant.. i showed Paula the themed pub "Clinic", where they had people sitting in Wheelchairs and drinking from drips. She seemed quite amused by it, but wasn't too excited about drinking from drips so we walked on in search of a nice place for drinks.. Ended up at The Forbidden City instead, which i totally fell in love with.. Will definitely come back again to this place. The decor is really nice, and there weren't many people (not sure if it's because of the Hungry Ghosts month, or everybody is at the National Day Parade preview). To top it up, the music was great. They have a center stage that is a huge glass fish tank and also stone statues of ancient chinese soldiers all over the place.. There was more chatting and girl talk until about 10plus, after which we left the place.. Paula took a cab back to her hotel whilst i waited for K to pick me up from Novatel hotel lobby.

It was a Saturday well spent..
