13 June: To the Beach House!

Today is one of the earliest i have woken up since i moved into Tony and Donna's home. Cause we are "checking out" today and moving to our next host family's beach house in Whitianga. K and I had our breakfast. I had my hot Milo, tuna with toast and the delicious banana cake that was for dessert last night.

We packed up our luggage, K loaded them into the car, and then we said our goodbyes to each other. Before that, we took some pictures with Tony, Donna, Abi and their noisy dog Molly. = )

And some pictures of the cinema room we slept in for the past 10 days, as well as the house..

It was about 4 hours drive to the beach house. Our new hosts Neil and Glenis will only arrive the next day, so we had to pop over to Glenis' sister's house to pick up the keys. When we arrived, her sister, Janet was kind enough to take us to the beach house, and then show us around the house. The beach house was lovely. It had 2 storeys, with beds and bathrooms on both stories, and the kitchen and living room on the top floor, which came with a balcony / deck overlooking the beach. Our bedroom was on the top floor just beside the kitchen.

When Janet left, K and I unloaded and unpacked, and then headed out to buy groceries to cook dinner. K was gonna stir fry vegetables and fry omelette while i cooked chicken porridge ( i had craving for porridge). We also rented 5 DVDs for $10 and met Janet's daughter, Alison, who was working at the video rental shop. When we reached home, K drove the car down the slope in front of the house, and parked outside the garage on the bottom floor. He reversed into the lawn, cause he wanted to drive out head first the next morning. But because it had been raining, and it was dark, we did not see that the lawn was muddy. Our car got stuck in the mud right n the middle of the lawn and refused to move. K reved the engine and accelerated, but the wheels just kept spinning in the mud without moving. And the grass on the lawn was damaged by our wheels. We were in deep shit (or mud). But there was nothing we could do, so we decided to wait until our host come the next day and hope that the mud will dry up tomorrow.

So we went into the house, and got to work chopping ingredients and cooking up dinner. This is the result, and it was super delicious, the oyster sauce stir-fried vegetables that K cooked tasted so much like my mother's cooking!! = )

Chef Keson at work

My minced chicken porridge
Pan fried omelette with carrots, prawns, mushrooms, some minced chicken and spring onions
Stir fried bak choy with mushrooms, carrots, prawns and lots of oyster sauce!
Our dinner

We watched one DVD "John Tucker Must Die" (some stupid comedy starring Desparate Housewives Gabrielle's lawn mower boyfriend) while having our delicious dinner. After that, we washed up the dishes, bathed, and watched "Die Hard 4" in bed before going to sleep. Didn't know "Die Hard" was such a good show.. Will go back and download Die Hard 1, 2 and 3.. = )
