Bored on the 1st July..

No work again yesterday as the unforgiving rain continues to pour.

We had planned to wake up early and drive 2 hours to Taupo for some outdoor activities, but everyone woke up late. So we ended up bumming around at home again. Chef Ming cooked fried rice for lunch, as usual, delicious!

K and I watched another DVD, "The Illusionist" starring Edward Norton. Fantastic show. David Copperfield should have been a guest star in the show.. haha.. = )

I continued with my 2nd book for the rest of the day. A book about this man who had 2 wives, and the wives met each other and got to know about it only when their husband was admitted into hospital after an accident. I fell asleep reading it, despite it being a really interesting story. These days i am feeling tired and breathless easily so maybe that's why.. And so I slept for 3 hours from 5-8pm. I was woken up by K, who told me dinner was ready. Chef Ming had made sushi. As if i wasn't already impressed enough by him! We had tuna, egg, carrot and fishcake sushi with soya sauce and wasabi, and Ah Ming also cooked the most delicious Suan La (sour and spicy) soup ever. I will try and make the soup one of these days on my own. Ah Ming and Adreana also bought back some fried chicken and french fries, so that was pretty much our dinner that night.

After dinner, K and I went to the supermarket to stock up on groceries. As we were shopping, I spotted this interesting looking mushroom that was shaped like a little heart. Isn't it cute?

When we reached home, it as almost 10pm. We had planned to play mahjong, but the weather forecast predicted no rain the next day, which meant that there will most probably be work tomorrow, so we decided against it, and went to bed instead.

K had classical music playing on the laptop throughout the whole night. We've read that classical music is supposedly helpful in stimulating the baby's brain (and some say make a smart baby!), and K is totally into it. I had some difficulty sleeping at first, cause it wasn't the soft and soothing type of classical music. There were some pieces that were loud and boomy. But eventually i fell asleep. I woke up in the morning when K woke up around 6am, and i just had to turn the laptop off.. It was a bit too much for me.. = ) Anyway, i just read online that the baby cannot hear sounds until about 20 weeks old.. so will share this with K tonight.. = )

Breakfast today (at 11am) was toast with tuna spread and hot milo. Since i am alone at home today, i vacuumed the house, changed bedsheets and cooked lunch for myself. I cooked porridge and fried some chye poh omelette, and potatoes with luncheon meat and baked beans. I wanted to have some Chye Sim to go with my porridge as well, but when i took out the chye sim from the fridge, it was frozen.. haha.. I think i am beginning to enjoy cooking, thanks to Ah Ming! = ) K is still dubious though, seeing me writing down all the recipes when Ah Ming cooks. He thinks it is just a passing phase, and i will only cook once a month when we go back to Singapore.. sickening.. During lunch, I watched the Opera Winfrey show introducing all these different places with the oldest people in the world. They gave some pretty good tips on how to live a long life, like eat cheese and drink wine, laugh a lot, eat beans and exercise etc..

Tonight i intend to cook spaghetti for the gang, and make some nachos with corn beef , baked beans and lotsa cheese. Still thinking of what to make for K's lunch tomorrow if he's working...

  1. Hollywood Tai Tai Says:

I like Illusionist too. Ah Ming is an experiemental chef, the ingredients for sushi is quite the odd combination. But if it tastes good...

Ask K to sing to the baby!
