Day Out

It rained again yesterday, so K, Ah Ming and A did not go to work. Ah Ming had wanted to buy fresh fish and lobster from the Port in Napier, so we drove there in the morning, only to find out that there was no fish because of the rain.

I had heated up the ABC soup in the morning, intending to drink it for breakfast, but never did. And i forgot to turn off the stove. Only realized it when we arrived at the port. I called the motel but got the voice mail instead, and i couldn't have a peace of mind after that.

We left the port and headed to search for breakfast. Our first choice, which was the cafe that K and I went to on our 9th Anniversary was closed for the day. So we ended up at another crowded cafe, and had a wonderful breakfast. I had most delicious pancakes with caramelized banana and bacon and a banana chocolate muffin, and K had Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon.. Ah Ming and A commented that i am such a banana lover... = )

After breakfast, i called the motel again. This time the husband picked up and i managed to confirm that he received my voice message to please switch off the electric stove for me. I had closure finally.. = )

The 4 of us went to the Sunday market in Napier after breakfast, and Ah Ming bought some fresh vegetables for our dinner tonight. As usual, he refused to let us pay, and K lost in the battle of "fastest fingers first". = )

K and I took a short stroll to the beach near the market while Ah Ming and A continued shopping at the market. The beach is called "Pebble Beach" and a really interesting beach too, cause there was no sand at all. It was all black pebbles of different sizes.. all the way to the point where the waves crashed..

After the market, we decided to visit the Napier Prison, supposedly one of the top 100 things that visitors must do in New Zealand. Unfortunately, we reached there at 1130am, and the next tour will only start at 1pm. So we left and went to the Centennial Gardens beside the prison instead. It was still drizzling at this point, so we just took a few photos of the very tall waterfall (which is the only attraction there) and headed back to the car afterwards.

We went for lunch after that, and had a disappointing $10 2 course set meal at this small restaurant which Ah Ming recommended. Apparently, they changed the menu so it wasn't like what Ah Ming had before. I had chicken cajun with fruit salad, which turned out to be deep fried chicken strips with normal salad and no fruits. K had fried chilli squid with crispy noodles. But it tasted horrible. And we all had average tasting capsicum soup for starters. And everything was served in small bowls that definitely did not fill our tummies at all.

The next tour for the Napier prison was at 3pm, but we decided to go home and play mahjong instead. So after lunch, we dropped by the asian supermarket, bought more ingredients to cook, and then headed back. Ah Ming made kacang puteh again for snack, and we played a few rounds of mahjong with real money this time. A emerged the overall winner that night, and K the overall loser. = )

Ah Ming made us dinner again that night, and i got my request: Glutinous rice with chicken and mushrooms. He also stir fried spinach with carrots and steamed us some fish with chye poh. Then for dessert, we had lychee.. Everything was just so delicious i think i over ate again, and my tummy felt weird, like the baby has totally no space to move around.. haha..

Tonight, Ah Ming is going to make Penang fried kuay teow for dinner.. can't wait!! = )
